Billings muralist turns outhouses into art destinations across Montana (fairfieldsuntimes.com) — A Billings muralist is transforming plain BLM vault toilets across Montana into colorful, nature-inspired art stops, including new work at Four Dances near town. Rilie Tané, whose career took off with murals at Guadalajara and Jake's Downtown, now travels the region turning blank walls into eye-catching scenes while still calling Yellowstone County home.
   

2. Montana backpackers trek 130 miles across Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness (spokesman.com) — A lifelong Billings resident finally turned years of daydreaming into reality by trekking roughly 130 miles through the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, with help from friends and a Laurel hiking partner. Their multi-leg journey from Roscoe to Chico Hot Springs included grueling elevation gains, bear encounters, sleepless nights with curious mountain goats, and support from fellow Billings-area outdoors lovers, all while inspiring plans for even bigger adventures.
   

3. Man Kills 8 Relatives in Shooting Spree After Parents Ask Him to Move Out (wideopencountry.com) — Billings is reeling after authorities say a local man killed eight relatives during a family gathering and then took his own life, in a case that officials link to tensions over him moving out. Citing the Billings Gazette and local leaders, the story details the victims' identities, the community's grief, and the mayor's call for residents of the 120,000-person city to support the affected families.
   

4. Football season kicks off in Billings as bars pack out for Bobcats, Grizzlies (ktvq.com) — Billings bars like Hooligan's and Tiny's Tavern are already packed as local fans crowd in to cheer the Montana State Bobcats and Montana Grizzlies for opening weekend. Residents describe elaborate game-day rituals, early arrivals for good seats, and a friendly but intense Cat-Griz rivalry that turns Saturdays into all-day community events.
   

5. ATF director visits Montana, tours firearms manufacturers across the state (nbcmontana.com) — Montana's firearms industry got a close look from ATF director Robert Cekada, whose first visit to the state included a stop in Billings along with Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell. He toured manufacturers, saw new high-speed barrel technology, and emphasized building cooperative relationships with local businesses that supply components and complete firearms nationwide.
