📰 News we're reading

1. Gallatin Co. to review proposed Riverbend Glamping Gateway floodplain changes (nbcmontana.com) — Gallatin County commissioners will hold a Sept. 22 hearing in downtown Bozeman on proposed floodplain changes for the controversial Riverbend Glamping Getaway near Gallatin Gateway. Residents can weigh in on a revised plan that removes campsites from the regulated flood area and alters utilities, roads, and drainage before the county directs its floodplain administrator's final decision.

2. Planned Parenthood to open Bozeman health center (bozemandailychronicle.com) — Planned Parenthood plans to open a Bozeman health center in summer 2027, bringing local access to procedural abortion and a wide range of reproductive health services that residents now travel to other Montana cities to receive. Supporters say the clinic will strengthen Bozeman's healthcare network alongside Bridgercare and ZoeCare, while student pro-life organizers warn it will increase abortions, underscoring an intensifying local debate over reproductive care.

3. United Way to buy, renovate Bozeman building into Gallatin Valley nonprofit hub (bozemandailychronicle.com) — Greater Gallatin United Way is buying and renovating a Bozeman Health lab building on North 19th Avenue into a shared nonprofit hub that will offer affordable offices and meeting space for dozens of local organizations. Backed by a $400,000 price discount from Bozeman Health and strong support from Mayor Joey Morrison, the $4 million project aims to cut overhead for nonprofits so more money goes directly into services for Bozeman-area families.

4. A Stream Hides Beneath It (outsidebozeman.com) — Bozeman leaders and local advocates are pushing a long-term plan to restore Bozeman Creek, improve flood protection, and finally make the downtown waterway visible and accessible with trails and pocket parks. A citizens' group, See Bozeman Creek, is working with the city on designs that could reshape recreation, ecology, and safety along the creek for decades to come.

5. The scale of what happened on this Montana cliff will stop you at the rim (wheninyourstate.com) — Just 23 miles west of Bozeman, Madison Buffalo Jump State Park offers a powerful mix of Native history, sweeping valley views, and an easy half-day outing. The article walks you through what to expect on the trails, how to safely explore the rim and base of the cliff, and what to pack so you can fully enjoy this quiet, uncrowded stop off I-90.
