Groundbreaking for housing development in Great Falls (krtv.com) — A major new housing project, Meadowview Village, is breaking ground in Great Falls, bringing 163 for-sale single-family lots near Central Avenue and 46th Street. City planners say nearby streets can handle added traffic but are requiring new sidewalks, bike lanes, and safer crossings to improve walking and biking access for residents and students.

City, county approve tax abatements for proposed Janicki development (theelectricgf.com) — Local city and county commissioners have approved tax abatements to help lure Janicki Industries’ proposed $830 million advanced manufacturing campus to AgriTech Park on Great Falls’ east side. The Washington-based company is weighing Great Falls against Twin Falls, Idaho, with tax incentives, infrastructure support, and phased abatements playing a major role in its final site decision.

Montana health officials address public concerns about hantavirus (kpax.com) — Great Falls and Cascade County health officials say the risk from a rare Andes strain of hantavirus tied to a cruise ship outbreak remains very low for local residents. They explain how hantavirus is usually spread in Montana, outline symptoms to watch for, and stress basic precautions like avoiding rodent-contaminated dust, washing hands, and staying home when sick.

4. Great Falls shelter worker nears animal chaplain certification (montanarightnow.com) — A City of Great Falls Animal Shelter staffer is nearly certified as an animal chaplain, bringing new emotional and spiritual support to local pet owners and shelter workers. She’s created a pet memorial tree residents can visit in May, and the city will host a World Pet Memorial Day remembrance at Gibson Park’s Garden Archway on June 9.

Missoula fifth-grader wins Montana law enforcement poster contest (montanarightnow.com) — A Great Falls student, Payson Wittmer, has been named a regional winner in Montana’s 2026 Law Enforcement Appreciation Poster Contest, earning $250 and an ice cream social from local troopers. The overall contest winner is a Missoula fifth-grader whose artwork will be displayed in Montana Department of Justice offices statewide, highlighting support for law enforcement during National Police Week.
