Funded through the REPI program and partner contributions, the project protects nearly 200 new acres, connects to Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, and secures long-term hunting and recreation opportunities for local residents.

2. Promoting integrity: Hunter Landowner Stewardship Program (mt.gov) — Based out of Helena Fish, Wildlife & Parks is promoting its online Hunter Landowner Stewardship Program to boost hunter ethics and respect for private land. In just about 20 minutes of videos and quizzes, hunters can brush up on real-world scenarios, improve landowner relations, and even enter a raffle for gear and guided hunts.

3. Montana scales back wolf harvest after new estimate shows population decline (nbcmontana.com subscription) — From Helena, state wildlife officials have scaled back Montana's wolf harvest after new estimates showed the population is smaller and declining faster than thought. 4. Montana committee weighs pilot program for corner crossing access (fairfieldsuntimes.com) — State wildlife officials meeting in Helena are exploring a pilot program to address "corner-locked" public lands, where access is blocked at property corners. The advisory committee's discussion, tied to an ongoing lawsuit over trespass rules, could shape future legislation affecting hunters and landowners across Montana.

5. Governor Gianforte Announces to End Orphan Tax (rounduprecord.com) — From Helena, Gov. Greg Gianforte says Montana will stop diverting Social Security survivor benefits from foster youth, ending what critics call the "orphan tax."
