2. Missoula County surveying sidewalk ADA accessibility using robot (kpax.com) — Missoula County is using small Dax robots to rapidly survey county-maintained sidewalks and trails for ADA accessibility, gathering detailed measurements to guide future upgrades. Officials say no jobs were cut, and they're pairing the data with conversations with residents with disabilities to prioritize structural fixes and policy changes that will make getting around Missoula County easier over the next few years.
3. Author releases debut novel blending horror in Montana territory (nbcmontana.com) — A Missoula-based author has released "The Unheld," a horror-tinged Western set in a haunted Montana territory and centered on a 12-year-old girl's quest to save her father. The debut novel, launched August 25, lets a local writer showcase Montana's history, landscapes, and storytelling traditions to a national horror audience.
4. Paddleheads clinch PBL Postseason berth with win over Great Falls (nbcmontana.com) — Missoula's PaddleHeads have clinched another Pioneer Baseball League playoff berth with an 11–7 home win over Great Falls at Ogren Park, delighting fans on Fan Appreciation Night. The team's strong second-half surge, including a big August run, keeps Missoula in the postseason hunt as they finish the regular season on the road in Great Falls this weekend.
5. UM students and researchers study air pollution over Salt Lake City (missoulian.com) — University of Montana chemistry students and researchers from Missoula spent seven weeks flying above Salt Lake City this summer to study air pollution and ozone formation. Their work, led by UM's Atmospheric Chemistry Group with national partners, aims to improve air quality in Western cities and offers major leadership opportunities for UM graduate students.
