1. Reserve to Scott master plan ready for public review (missoulian.com) — Missoula's Redevelopment Agency is wrapping up the master plan for the area between North Reserve and Scott streets and wants your feedback. A final open house and online survey on September 1 will showcase updated ideas for zoning, streets, parks, and mixed-use development. Public comment will continue through fall as the plan moves to city boards and council.
   

2. City resists experimental park maintenance push; adopts budget (missoulacurrent.com) — Missoula's City Council has approved the final budget after rejecting a proposal to cut police overtime and urban camping enforcement funds to pay for a $150,000 organic park-maintenance study. Instead, officials will look for savings within the parks department and possible grants, while Mayor Andrea Davis says the city remains committed to reducing herbicide and pesticide use in local parks under state weed-control requirements.
   

3. Missoula City Council votes to approve FY27 budget (kpax.com) — Missoula's City Council has approved the 2027 city budget, including a 3.8% property tax increase while keeping existing services intact. Most new funding will go toward staff wages, especially police and fire, and council also backed a study on making city parks pesticide-free. Future budget tweaks will still require public hearings, giving residents more chances to weigh in.

Providence named Montana's top hospital, best regional (missoulacurrent.com) — Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula has been named Montana's top hospital and a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, with high-performing marks in cardiology and 14 adult procedures and conditions. Leaders credit the recognition to caregivers' skill and compassion, emphasizing quality care close to home for western Montana patients.
   

5. Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger Station (usda.gov) — If you're up for a day trip from Missoula, the Plains/Thompson Falls Ranger Station sits about 80 miles northwest along scenic Highway 200, anchoring a 490,000‑acre slice of Lolo National Forest. The district offers hiking, hunting, and renowned trout fishing around the Clark Fork River, plus easy access to historic sites and nearby natural attractions like Glacier and Flathead Lake.
