County officially adopts impact fees for Missoula Rural Fire (missoulacurrent.com) — Missoula County has officially adopted one-time impact fees on new development to help pay for infrastructure and equipment in the Missoula Rural Fire District. As population and jobs grow, these fees will help fund new or relocated fire stations and vehicles, with an advisory committee overseeing how growth helps cover its own costs.

Missoula County eyeing establishment of Family Justice Center (kpax.com) — Missoula County's Justice Department is exploring a new Family Justice Center that would bring detectives, prosecutors, victim advocates, and other services into one location for crime victims and families. Using a federal grant, the county is studying feasibility and funding needs, with hopes of eventually offering everything from protection-order help to therapy and job training under one roof.
   

3. Missoula Public Library considers cuts, closures due to budget deficit (nbcmontana.com) — Missoula residents could soon see the main public library closed on Sundays, shorter Monday hours, and the Frenchtown branch shut down as leaders confront a $400,000 budget deficit. Trustees are weighing service cuts, possible staff reductions, and a future mill levy while exploring alternatives like bookmobiles and deliveries to keep access to materials across Missoula County.
   

4. Missoula hosts climate summit to discuss effects of extreme heat, smoke (nbcmontana.com) — Agencies and experts are gathered in Missoula for a two-day climate summit focused on how extreme heat and wildfire smoke are affecting local communities. Presentations and discussions aim to better understand risks, coordinate messaging, and plan future prevention strategies so residents are safer during increasingly smoky, hot summers.
