Grand Island Habitat for Humanity purchases 15 acres for housing development (ksnblocal4.com subscription) — Grand Island Habitat for Humanity has bought 15 acres on the city’s northeast side to build more than 80 future homes, easing pressure in a tight housing market. Dog dies in Grand Island apartment fire (ksnblocal4.com subscription) — Firefighters responded Tuesday afternoon to an apartment fire near Walnut and Koenig in Grand Island, where no people were hurt but a dog sadly died despite resuscitation attempts. Crews quickly knocked down the basement fire, and officials are urging residents to keep cooking appliances clean and stay prepared in case of smoke or fire.
