OPPD - Turtle Creek Station RfC (nebraska.gov) — A state agency is proposing a revision to the air construction permit for OPPD’s Turtle Creek Station at 14601 S. 168th Street in Gretna, with no increase in emissions expected. Gretna residents can review the draft permit and submit comments or request a hearing between October 1 and November 2, either online, by email, or by mail.

The October 1st Education News (omaha.com) — Gretna residents can take pride as the Gretna Public Schools Board of Education has earned the Nebraska Association of School Boards’ top President’s Award yet again, marking its 32nd win in 33 years. The broader education roundup also covers new Omaha-area schools, literacy initiatives, college programs, and research efforts shaping learning across the region.

Papio NRD: Flood-control reservoirs helped spare Omaha metro from worse flooding (3newsnow.com) — Flood-control reservoirs near Gretna, including Sergeant Mad Bear Lake, captured a huge surge of stormwater this week and helped prevent far worse flooding across the Omaha metro. Papio NRD officials say water rose about six feet at the Gretna reservoir, leaving only a small safety margin on some levees but ultimately proving that decades of investment in local flood projects paid off in a single night.
   

4. 39 Clifton Builders prepare to impact businesses, teams, communities (unl.edu) — Gretna students are among 39 undergraduates chosen for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s 2026 Clifton Builders cohort, a program that develops young entrepreneurs and leaders. Participants take specialized management and entrepreneurship courses, work with strengths coaches, and launch real products whose proceeds support nonprofits, giving Gretna students a structured path to grow their impact on businesses, teams, and communities.
