• Hastings City Council votes down restaurant tax in 3-3 vote (ksnblocal4.com) — Hastings residents won’t see a new 2.5% restaurant and bar occupation tax after the City Council split 3–3 and the measure failed on second reading. The tax was intended to shift museum support away from property taxes, but several speakers urged better city budgeting and warned the change could hurt small businesses. Two council members were absent for the vote.
