Neighbors near 174th and Pacific raise traffic and environmental concerns over new apartment complex (3newsnow.com) — West Omaha neighbors near 173rd and Pacific are raising concerns that a new apartment complex and construction parking are worsening traffic and erosion along Pacific Street. Some fear mud runoff could make the road hazardous, while others worry a future widening project could take parts of their yards. Omaha Public Works says Pacific's widening is in design now, with construction planned for 2032.
2. City of Omaha/Douglas County Notice Inviting Bids 9/23/2026 (omahadailyrecord.com) — Omaha residents and contractors have a chance to bid on a city project to demolish one structure, with sealed electronic bids due by 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026. All submissions must be filed through Douglas County's Ionwave system, and bidders need to include a 5% bid bond or certified check to be considered.
3. Opus Breaks Ground on 272,076-SF Rainwood Industrial Spec Facility in Omaha (cremarketbeat.com) — A 272,000-square-foot Rainwood Industrial facility is now under construction at 106th Street in northwest Omaha, adding much-needed modern warehouse and light industrial space. With completion expected in April 2027, the project sits near I-680, I-80, and Google's data center, potentially attracting new employers and strengthening Omaha's industrial job base.
4. Kids Can Community Center teaches children the power of kindness during Good Neighbor Week (3newsnow.com) — Kids in South Omaha spent Good Neighbor Week at Kids Can Community Center learning how simple acts of kindness can strengthen their neighborhoods. Through decorating kindness rocks and other activities, children explored ways to support friends and families. Organizers with One Omaha hope this first citywide Week of Neighboring inspires residents across Omaha to build stronger, more connected blocks.
5. Omaha student-led clubs help teens open up about mental health (wowt.com) — Omaha high school students are leading mental health clubs like "Our Minds Matter" at Central, Benson, Westview, and Burke to help classmates open up and support one another. With guidance from The Kim Foundation, teens are learning how to check in on friends and reduce stigma. Organizers hope to eventually expand these student-led groups to every local school.
