Early trial results look promising, complementing a recently introduced pancreas cancer drug and giving local patients and families new hope for better survival and quality of life in coming years.

2. Radio Engineering Industries, Inc. (nebraska.gov) — State regulators are proposing to reissue a wastewater pretreatment permit for Radio Engineering Industries on L Street in Omaha, with limits on pollutants sent to the city's Papillion Creek treatment plant and ultimately the Missouri River. Residents can review the draft permit in Lincoln and submit comments or request a hearing before the September 20, 2026 deadline.

Nebraska attorney general sues Omaha over minimum wage ordinance ahead of Oct. 1 start (3newsnow.com) — Omaha's new minimum wage ordinance is headed to court after Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers sued the city, arguing state law should override Omaha's higher youth wage and growth formula. City Attorney Matt Khuse says Omaha will vigorously defend its home-rule authority, with outside counsel already hired as both sides race an Oct. 1 effective date.

Life jacket memorial at Wehrspann Lake honors drowning victim, aims to save lives (wowt.com) — A new life jacket loaner station at Wehrspann Lake, inspired by the July drowning of 19-year-old Omaha resident Wyatt Bernal, is now encouraging boaters to suit up before heading out. His mother helped create the memorial-style safety shed, stocked with donated jackets and a heartfelt message, and officials say it could be the first of several similar stations at area NRD lakes.
