Omaha mother turns grief into support after son's homicide (wowt.com) — An Omaha mother who lost her son to homicide joined the "Gone But Not Forgotten" community walk, which brought together local families coping with violent loss and unsolved cases. Omaha Police and Crime Stoppers attended, highlighting support groups and urging residents to share tips that could help solve cold cases and bring closure to grieving neighbors.
   

2. NRG Adventure Park Proposed for Former Younkers Store (omaha.com) — Oak View Mall's former Younkers building in Omaha could soon become an NRG Adventure Park, featuring trampolines, climbing walls, soft play areas, and virtual reality games. The City of Omaha is currently reviewing a major amendment to the mall's development agreement to allow indoor recreation, potentially breathing new life into the struggling property and adding a family attraction on the west side.
   

3. Missouri River Basin August runoff varies by location (kornradio.com) — Residents along the Missouri River near Omaha should know that Gavins Point Dam will only provide minimum-service navigation flows through the end of the season, with support ending November 15. With drought limiting runoff and reservoir levels dropping, officials may miss flow targets if there's no commercial navigation, and are warning downstream water users to assess risks to their intakes and facilities.
   

4. Nebraska Humane Society: Why dogs and cats drink water so messily (wowt.com) — Omaha pet owners get a fun science lesson on why their dogs and cats splash water everywhere when they drink, thanks to the way their tongues and cheeks work. The Nebraska Humane Society also highlights an adoption special, offering cats over a year old and dogs over 25 pounds for just $25, giving locals a chance to bring home a new companion.
