York man to continue serving more prison time for assault and non-fulfillment of terms of post-release supervision (justmelaniew.com) — A York man, Jamison Hall, has been ordered in York District Court to serve additional prison time after an assault conviction and for violating earlier post-release supervision. Citing a long history of violent offenses and warrants, the court imposed consecutive prison terms and post-release supervision, following a 2026 case that began with a welfare check at a York residence.

2. Board of Equalization and assessor trim $1.5 million in valuations through property detail corrections (ne.gov) — Property owners in York County should know commissioners, meeting as the Board of Equalization, approved detail corrections that trimmed about $1.5 million from total valuations. With only about 40 protests filed this year, far fewer than last, residents still have the option to appeal county decisions to the state Tax Equalization Review Commission if they disagree.

3. Man killed in York County train collision identified by Sheriff's Office (wowt.com) — York County authorities have identified the man killed when an SUV on railroad tracks below Highway 81 was struck by a BNSF train on July 8. The Sheriff’s Office named the driver as Luke A. Short of Kennewick, Washington, and is asking anyone with information about the early-morning collision to contact their office.

4. Difference Makers: York County youth-led group launches nonprofit effort to improve food access (ruralradio.com) — York County students and community leaders are forming a nonprofit, Difference Makers: Difference in Action, to tackle food insecurity locally by teaching gardening and improving access to fresh food. They’ll debut their efforts at a York County Fair booth, where they’ll fundraise, start conversations about food security, and invite residents to share stories and get involved.
