Carson, Lyon, Storey managers cite growth opportunities and need for planning (nevadaappeal.com) — Carson City’s manager outlined major water and road upgrades, including a $27 million Quill Water Treatment Plant project and William Street utility and streetscape work expected to finish by October. He also previewed a $20 million courthouse renovation planned for 2029, while neighboring county leaders described regional growth, data centers, and infrastructure that will shape commuting, jobs, and services for Carson City residents.

3. Carson City celebrates America's 250th with 2 garrison U.S. flag installations (carsonnow.org) — Carson City will mark America’s 250th anniversary on Saturday, July 4, with two massive garrison U.S. flags greeting drivers at the city’s north and south gateways. Residents are invited to a community-driven dedication ceremony at Carson Tahoe Hospital at 11:30 a.m., celebrating local pride and the volunteers and donors who made the project possible.

4. A Conversation Worth Having: Reflections with Guy W. Farmer (carsonnow.org) — Carson City residents are invited to a July 25 conversation with longtime journalist and former diplomat Guy W. Farmer at the Carson City Senior Center’s Nevada Room. Hosted by the Carson City Historical Society, the afternoon will explore patriotism and America’s evolving story, with free admission for members and $10 tickets for non-members, by reservation.

Carson Now Explains: How wild horses lost their ‘wild' designation, and with it, their rights to water (carsonnow.org) — A long-running legal and bureaucratic loophole has left Virginia Range wild horses classified as “feral livestock,” stripping them of wildlife protections and water access even as development and fencing spread across Carson City, Storey and Washoe counties. Recent federal approval for 14 miles of new fencing, granted without public comment, has sparked protests at the Legislature in Carson City and intensified questions about where the herds can safely find water.
