The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Hello again, Las Vegas! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Las Vegas Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Las Vegas Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Las Vegas long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today's weather:

Becoming very windy; cooler. High: 57 Low: 40.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. Police are seeking the public's help in locating a 15-year-old boy who went missing near the 9000 block of Hermosa Valley Street late Friday. Officials say Elias Rivera weighs approximately 145 pounds and was last seen wearing a yellow and orange shirt, brown pants, and white shoes. Rivera may be in need of medical assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department at (702) 828-3111. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  2. The City of Las Vegas is seeking volunteers to help with a project to count the city's homeless residents later this week. Between 30 and 60 volunteers are needed at each of the city's eight homeless resource locations, and each counting session will take about four hours to complete. The count takes place this Thursday, Feb. 24, and will help city officials determine how many resources are needed to support unhoused residents in Las Vegas. (News3LV)
  3. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak will deliver his State of the State at Allegiant Stadium on Wednesday, according to an announcement released by his office Monday. The speech comes just eight months before Sisolak is set to bid for re-election in November. The event is scheduled for noon tomorrow and will not provide options for in-person attendance. (News3LV)
