Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:
- The Las Vegas animal shelter is waiving fees for adult dog adoptions through the end of the month. The promotion is part of the national Clear the Shelters campaign. A dog older than six months qualifies as an adult dog. Click to view adoptable animals. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
- The Shade Tree is asking the community to donate food to support its clients. The Shade Tree is a Las Vegas shelter for women and children. Requested food items include cereal, oatmeal, canned goods, bread, cheese, frozen goods, and pasta. Ground coffee is also requested along with powdered creamer and sugar. - Las Vegas Fire & Rescue's new chief reports that community engagement is a top priority. Chief Fernando Gray will reportedly focus the department on servicing the city's unhoused population. According to Gray, the department's customers are the city's residents. The new chief hopes that community engagement will also drive the department's future diversity efforts. (Las Vegas Sun)
