Here are the top 3 stories today in Las Vegas:
- Compared to any other holiday, the Fourth of July is notorious for being the one where most pets go missing. Due to this unfortunate fact, a Las Vegas shelter has announced that it is waiving reclaim fees for all lost and stray pets. A recent news release stated that the Animal Foundation will waive the fees until Jul. 10. According to statistics, during Jul. 1-10 of 2021, only 20 percent of animals were reclaimed by their owners. The Animal Foundation hopes that this waived fee will encourage more people to reclaim their pets. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
- This week, an urn was found in former city councilman Steve Miller's outdoor trash can. Miller had stated that this is one of the most bizarre and odd things that has happened to him in his life. He speculates that someone may have left this in his waste bin hoping that he would properly dispose of the remains. According to Billy Vallie from David Funeral Homes, this happens more often than people think. (KTNV 13 Action News Las Vegas)
