Here are the top 3 stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. Yesterday morning, police were able to clear a bomb threat at the University of Nevada Las Vegas' (UNLV) student union. According to reports, the University Police Services were able to make the announcement after authorities investigated the building and confirmed that there was no longer an active threat. The threat was put in effect after an attempted robbery took place earlier that morning. (News3LV)
  2. A Las Vegas elementary school debuted a new vending machine, and it doesn't give out chips and candy. William Snyder Elementary School's new vending machine actually distributes books for their students. Students are given special tokens to use for the machine. Second grade teacher Marissa Sarandos stated that it is important for the school to have this since "so many of [their] kids don't have any books at home of their own." Many of the books in the machine were donated by the local school community. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
  3. Yesterday, Governor Steve Sisolak announced that Nevada’s statewide mask mandate for indoor public settings would be lifted. It is going to be put into effect immediately. This update is all in regards to Emergency Directive 052. According to the directive, some locations may still ask you to wear a mask since individual businesses are able to institute their own guidelines. For full updates on the mandate in reference to schools, transportation, and more, please check out the full article. (FOX5 Las Vegas)
