I am reaching out in a time of absolute crisis. On June 3rd, I was in a severe accident that left me with a fractured hip and bilateral radial head fractures in both elbows. The severity of the impact required immediate emergency surgery, and I am currently in the middle of intensive medical care and facing physical therapy to assist in avoiding a elbow surgery.Because of these extensive injuries, I am unable to work and am on medical leave until November. My short-term disability provides only percentage of my wage.
My Current Insurance Situation & Why Help is Critical
My employer-sponsored health insurance premium is now due out-of-pocket, with a strict payment every month starting August 9th 2026. The total cost to secure my coverage through November is $2,500.00.
- If I pay the premium out-of-pocket: I will be left with just $150 a week to cover all other basic living needs, rent, and utilities for my husband and me. Will have to choose between health care and a bill.
- If I cannot pay the premium: My current 100% medical coverage will be paused and not restored until I return to work, even if balance is paid after.
The Devastating Outcomes If I Can't Find Assistance
If my policy lapses, my medical care will stop. I will be forced to pay entirely out-of-pocket for ongoing treatments. This includes $150 per doctor visit (2-3 times a month) and $80 per physical therapy session (twice a week), plus the massive costs of necessary medical imaging and potential future surgeries to evaluate my elbows.Losing this coverage will completely wipe out my little income, leave us entirely unable to afford basic utilities, and put us at immediate risk of losing our housing and becoming homeless.
