Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:
- A new Las Vegas-based company is developing a lipstick that can help prevent domestic violence and sexual assault before they occur. According to Joy Hoover, founder and CEO of Esoes (pronounced S.O.S.), the innovative lipstick will have a test token in the base to quickly identify the presence of "date rape" drugs. The product will also connect via Bluetooth to an app that can quickly contact friends, authorities, and/or emergency contacts. Hoover hopes to release the life-saving cosmetic by 2023. (KNPR)
- A free esports program is offering Las Vegas kids a path to entering the gaming and technology industry. Stride Esports' virtual summer program, open to Southern Nevadan children between the ages of eight and 18, teaches participants how to code and create video games. Registration is now open, with the first session starting on Jun. 13. (News3LV)
- An alleged prostitute stole a $100,000 watch from a man at a Las Vegas hotel on Saturday, according to authorities. 32-year-old Sarah Richards of Las Vegas was spotted the next day at a different hotel by an undercover officer, and began speaking with the officer about prostitution.
