Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:
- Local protesters are concerned about a display in a Henderson mall. The model railroad display, which was created by the Las Vegas Garden Railway Society, was on display from Jun. 30 to Jul. 5. The protesters took issue with part of the display, which depicted a Black man who was about to be hanged. About 45-50 people attended a protest on Monday, which demanded that the Society issue an apology for the racial insensitivity of the display. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- Hotel visitors at the Luxor Hotel and Casino were visited by a dust devil on Friday. When an onlooker captured the chaotic event on video, the tape went viral. The swirling winds picked up lounge chairs and other items at the pool and sent guests running for cover. No one was seriously injured by the event. (ABC 7)
- Nonstop flight service from Incheon International Airport in Korea to Las Vegas' Harry Reid International has resumed. The first flight since March 2020 landed on Sunday after the COVID-19 pandemic put a hold on the route for over two years. The airliner is now running three flights per week from Incheon to Las Vegas. The move comes as part of a major restoration of flight paths for Korean Air to cities including New York, D.C., Honolulu, and others. (Casino.Org News)
