🌱 Neon Feast App + Saturday Bus Schedule + Uplifting Deliveries

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Hello again, Las Vegas! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Las Vegas Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Las Vegas Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Las Vegas long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today's weather:

An a.m. rain or snow shower. High: 51 Low: 33.

Here are the top three stories today in Las Vegas:

  1. Las Vegas foodies can now take advantage of a new app that provides a curated restaurant guide for their area. Neon Feast has been released on both Apple and Android app stores and offers listings curated by dozens of local and national food and beverage experts, with restaurants searchable through a combination of filters and capabilities. The list of venues is approaching 500, and restaurants cannot buy in to be included. (News3LV)
  2. Those who rely on public transit to get to school, work, and appointments may have less flexibility due to a new bus schedule. Citing pandemic-related issues and labor shortages, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada announced weekday schedules have been switched to a Saturday schedule on all 39 routes. This switch has caused a 12 percent reduction in buses on the road. (KTNV Las Vegas)
  3. A Las Vegas teen is on a mission to brighten seniors' spirits with her new organization. Started by 14-year-old Mischa Abad, "Uplifting Deliveries" collects cards and delivers them to seniors' homes. So far, the organization has collected around 650 cards and hopes to hit its goal of at least one thousand cards. (FOX5 Las Vegas)

From my notebook:

  • Clark County, Nevada has officially surpassed five million marriage licenses. There's a reason they call us the Wedding Capital of the World! (Facebook)
  • With the passage of a new law requiring all non-functional grass in Southern Nevada to be replaced by the end of 2026, you might be wondering what types of grass are considered "functional" and "nonfunctional." The Las Vegas Valley Water District shared a video to find out. (Facebook)
