Business owners say the change could prevent layoffs and keep customers coming, though they still worry hourly rates may discourage people from visiting multiple spots in the neighborhood. City leaders promise ongoing talks and possible validation programs to balance revenue with affordability.

Nevada Task Force 1 K9 team returns home from Northern Nevada wildfires (news3lv.com) — A Las Vegas-based Nevada Task Force 1 K9 Search Team is back home after two intense days helping survey wildfire damage in Northern Nevada. The dogs and handlers marked dozens of damaged homes and vehicles but found no victims, a result credited to strong evacuation messaging, and the pups received quick vet checks before finally getting some rest.
   

4. Fontainebleau Las Vegas investigates glass falling from hotel exterior (reviewjournal.com) — Glass fell from the exterior of the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on Wednesday, prompting the resort to cordon off the affected area along Las Vegas Boulevard and launch an investigation. Hotel officials say guest and employee safety is their top priority as they determine what went wrong and whether any additional precautions are needed.
   

5. Trailblazing former Las Vegas showgirl Anna Bailey turns 100 (news3lv.com) — Las Vegas is celebrating trailblazing former showgirl Anna Bailey as she turns 100, honoring her role as one of the first Black showgirls to perform here. She and her late husband helped end segregation on the Strip, and she says she still feels deeply embraced whenever she's out in Las Vegas today.
