Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:
- The Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating a slaying that took place in central Las Vegas yesterday afternoon. There are not many details that have been released. What is known so far is that the incident took place in a neighborhood near Sahara Avenue and Maryland Parkway. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
- The City of Las Vegas finally opened the Courtyard Homeless Resource Center yesterday. Since the completion of phase 1, the center has expanded to include a guest services building, day room, and shower and restroom facilities. Additionally, its newly covered sleep area can accommodate up to 800 guests at a time. (News3LV)
- "Baked Old Ladies," a cannabis advocacy group, brought meals to the needy in Las Vegas this past weekend. This group of people sets out to accomplish this for every third Sunday of the month. They bring hot meals to the homeless and low-income residents of the area at Molasky Family Park. It is a lively affair, and volunteers distribute fresh-cooked dishes to up to 150 people.
