🌱 Resident Hits Massive Jackpot + Three Casinos Slated For Demolition

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

(Patch Media)

Morning, Las Vegas! It's me, Dominique-Noelle Rafael, your host of the Las Vegas Daily. Keep reading for everything you need to know about what's happening around town.

First, today's weather:

Hot. High: 112 Low: 90.

Here are the top three stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. A Las Vegas resident has hit a massive jackpot at a casino off-Strip. The unidentified man was playing Dollar Storm at Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino when he hit the jackpot worth $230,152. He was only playing for about 15 minutes and hit the jackpot in the bonus round. The man wishes to remain anonymous, according to the casino. (Fox 5 Las Vegas)
  2. Higher mortgage rates have cooled Las Vegas home sales. Despite the cooling effect, the Las Vegas housing market is still attractive for developers. The Las Vegas Valley is routinely among the top-selling spots in the country for homebuilders. The National Association of Home Builders reports that builder confidence is still down, however. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. Three Las Vegas-area casinos are slated for demolition for land sale. Red Rock Resorts' Texas Station, Fiesta Rancho, and Fiesta Henderson were closed in Mar. 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. The casinos never reopened after Governor Sisolak allowed casinos to reopen in June 2020. Now, they will be demolished. (Eater Vegas)
