🌱 School Fight Prompts District Probe + Man Arrested At Airport

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Las Vegas.

Get on up, Las Vegas! It's Wednesday, so let's get you started with everything you need to know going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and warm. High: 73 Low: 51.

Here are the top 3 stories in Las Vegas today:

  1. Two female students were involved in an altercation that was caught on a video that circulated throughout the internet on various social media platforms. In the video, the attacker approached the victim from behind and took multiple shots to her back and head. Since then, Clark County school officials have requested that people discontinue sharing and spreading the video. The female student attacker has been cited on a misdemeanor battery charge. These charges may change after investigators review medical records from the student that was struck. (AP News)
  2. A man was arrested this past Sunday at Harry Reid International Airport after causing a disturbance on a jetway. According to reports, 45-year-old man Terry Hopper started causing issues with South West employees after they denied him entrance to the flight. Once police were called to the scene, he failed to comply and was inevitably arrested. Authorities claimed that they could smell alcohol on him. Hopper has been charged with a misdemeanor count of public conduct at airports. (Las Vegas Review-Journal)
  3. This past Sunday, a house fire that took place in Spring Valley led to the discovery of a huge residential marijuana grow. According to reports, police stated that the cause of the fire was very apparent. Having an underground marijuana operation can be very dangerous and is a major fire hazard due to the rigged electrical work, modified gas lines, lighting, and fertilizer. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has expressed that narcotics detectives are currently working on the case to find out who was responsible for this event. (KTNV Las Vegas)
