Open swim sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings are free, letting kids and parents test the waters while coaches assess skills and emphasize fun, safety, and good technique.

Eighty-seven-year-old Suzy Bowers goes skydiving (mvprogress.com) — An 87-year-old hospice patient from Mesa Valley Estates just checked off a lifelong dream by skydiving at Mesquite Airport with instructors from Skydive Mesquite. Surrounded by friends and staff, she completed a tandem jump, landed safely, and declared she’s now ready for a tattoo.

Three Republicans vie in primary race for Clark County Public Administrator • Nevada Current (nevadacurrent.com) — Clark County voters, including those in Mesquite, will soon choose among three Republican candidates for public administrator, the office that handles estates when no family or will is available. Former Mesquite police chief and ex-coroner Michael Murphy, real estate agent Don Salazar, and veteran and reseller Mark Sprinkle each pitch different experience, from crisis-tested public service to business management and military discipline.

Las Vegas tourism board approves contracts for marketing and research (sccgmanagement.com) — Mesquite’s tourism profile is part of a major new round of marketing and research contracts just approved by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. While most dollars target global promotion of Las Vegas, the board also funds ongoing visitor surveys that regularly track travel sentiment and branding for Mesquite and Laughlin, helping shape how southern Nevada markets itself to future visitors.
