City of Reno seeks feedback on draft strategic plan (thisisreno.com) — Reno residents are being asked to weigh in now on the city’s draft 2027–29 Strategic Plan, which will shape services, infrastructure, and quality-of-life priorities. You can submit feedback online, by email, or during a June 23 webinar, with comments accepted through June 30 before the plan goes to the Reno City Council for adoption.
2. Food Bank of Northern Nevada launches free summer meals program for children (kolotv.com) — Families in Reno and Sparks can get free daily summer meals for kids ages 2–18 at 23 local Kids Cafe sites, many with Saturday service. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada and partners, including the City of Reno and Washoe County schools, are also supporting similar programs in surrounding counties and rural communities.
3. VOTERS DECIDE: Kathleen Taylor declares victory; Jim Marchant wins GOP nomination (2news.com) — Reno mayoral candidate Kathleen Taylor says she’s secured second place over Eddie Lorton, holding a roughly 400-vote edge and advancing to face frontrunner Kate Marshall in November. The update comes as Republican Jim Marchant officially wins the GOP nomination for Nevada secretary of state, setting up another closely watched race this fall.
4. Seven WCSD seniors awarded $2,500 National Merit Scholarships (thisisreno.com) — Seven Washoe County School District seniors, including multiple Reno High School graduates, have earned $2,500 National Merit Scholarships for the 2026–27 year. Most plan to attend the University of Nevada, Reno, where those listing UNR as their first choice will also receive up to $20,000 annually from the university for four years.
5. Bob Tallman to miss Reno Rodeo as recovery keeps legendary announcer sidelined (2news.com) — Reno Rodeo fans will notice a big change this year as legendary announcer Bob Tallman skips the 2026 event to recover from foot surgery. Longtime Reno Rodeo voice Wayne Brooks and reigning PRCA Announcer of the Year Anthony Lucia will lead the announcing team when the rodeo runs June 18–27 at the Nevada State Fairgrounds in Reno.
