🌱 Corbin Carroll's Triple-A Debut + Crews Put Out South Reno Fire

Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. A 70-year-old man in Reno was charged for a 1982 "cold case" homicide. According to authorities, the man was connected to the killing of a five-year-old girl in California using DNA evidence. The man, who is a registered sex offender in Nevada, was 29 years old at the time of the killing. He has been charged with one count of first-degree murder, among other charges. (Nevada Appeal)
  2. A top 10 MLB prospect made his Triple-A debut for the Reno Aces on Sunday. Corbin Carroll, one of the leading prospects in minor-baseball, launched a 441-food home run in his first outing. He also caught a fly ball in the ninth inning and threw out the potential go-ahead run. Carroll was the 16th overall pick of the 2019 draft and is MLB.com's No. 3 prospect in baseball.   3. Firefighters put out a fire in South Reno on Sunday afternoon. According to officials, the brush fire was reported in the 13000 block of South Virginia Street and was between 20 and 40 feet in size. Investigators speculate that the fire was caused by a bird striking a power pole. About 4,000 electric customers were without power as a result of the fire. (KKOH)
