🌱 Man With Gun Protests Drag Queen Storytime + July 4 Celebrations

Here are the top stories in Reno today:

  1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, melatonin poisoning of children has gone up dramatically in the past decade. Melatonin ingestion can lead to hospitalization and other more serious problems. A local pediatrician, Jose Cucalon-Calderon, spoke about how important proper sleep can be for kids. He recommended that anyone considering melatonin use for kids speak with their pediatrician first. (KOLO)
  2. A man with a gun brought chaos to a Drag Queen Storytime event outside the Sparks Library. The event on Sunday afternoon was protested by a group of Proud Boys outside the library. Near the end of the protest, a man wearing Proud Boys clothing and carrying a gun approached the library, which caused participants in the storytime event to run to the library for safety. (KRNV)
  3. Do you know your Fourth of July plans? The Reno Gazette Journal put together a list of all the Independence Day celebrations around town. A parade will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Jul. 4 along Riverside Drive between Ralston and Booth streets. The Reno Aces will also have a home game at 6:35 p.m., featuring a postgame fireworks show. (Reno Gazette Journal)
