Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. Washoe County is currently working to fix many of the Nevada Cares Campus emergency homeless shelter issues. According to shelter residents, lice, drugs, and mental health treatment issues are occurring at the shelter. The county is spending $70 million on a construction project to remedy the situation. (Reno Gazette Journal)
  2. A former Desert Skies Middle School counselor was sentenced to life in prison on Wednesday. Tyler Quinn Ball-Imsdahl pleaded guilty to the production of child pornography. He reportedly catfished teenage boys on social media to get photos of them. Many of the children were local boys. If he is released early, Ball-Imsdahl will be required to register as a sex offender.   3. Reno homeowners are warning the community about a deceptive contractor. According to Yan Lei, Reno's Justin Juarez took payment for contracting work and has lied about completing the work. The Nevada State Contractors Board is reminding the community not to work with unlicensed contractors. Also, avoid anyone that requires you to put a large sum of money down before work begins.
