With more than 250 yearly events, from concerts to art shows and workshops, it's also a year-round hub where Reno families, teens, and music fans can discover new bands and local art.
   

2. Reno police arrest man after report of shot fired during fight downtown (mynews4.com) — Reno police arrested a 25-year-old man after a reported shot was fired during a fight near West 2nd and West streets downtown early Sunday, recovering a handgun and a spent casing. The suspect faces several firearm-related charges and is presumed innocent, while investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Reno Police or Secret Witness anonymously.
   

3. The City of Reno partners with Liberty Dogs (2news.com) — The City of Reno is teaming up with Liberty Dogs as a city employee helps raise a service puppy, also named Reno, who will eventually support a veteran with disabilities. Weekly trainings and a two-year preparation period aim to match the dog's skills with a local veteran's needs, highlighting a new way Reno is backing those who face daily challenges after service.
   

4. Pedestrian killed in vehicle crash on Casazza Drive in Reno (kolotv.com) — A man was killed Wednesday evening while jaywalking across Casazza Drive in Reno when he was struck by a westbound SUV, according to police. Emergency crews closed the road temporarily, but it has since reopened, and investigators say speed and impairment do not appear to be factors as the Major Accident Investigation Team continues its work.
   

5. See where your school ranks in Washoe County's new star ratings (thenewstribune.com) — New state star ratings show how Reno-area schools stack up, with Mount Rose's middle school program earning a perfect score and several local elementaries landing five stars.
