New Reno apartment project eyes upscale, active clientele (rgj.com subscription) — A new upscale complex, The Residences on Winter Street in downtown Reno, is nearing completion with rooftop social spaces, wellness amenities, EV-ready infrastructure, and a private dog run along the Truckee River. Aimed at executives, active retirees, and seasonal residents, its above-average rents highlight Reno-Sparks' ongoing housing affordability crunch while adding more high-end options to the city's rental market.
   

2. Reno man charged with lying to obtain citizenship (kolotv.com) — A Reno man is headed to trial in November on a federal naturalization fraud charge after authorities say he lied about prior sexual assault conduct when applying for U.S. citizenship. Prosecutors allege he twice failed to disclose serious incidents before later admitting them in a Nevada courtroom, and he now faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
   

3. 83 cats rescued from hoarding situation at Reno apartment after eviction (2news.com) — Reno residents should know that 83 cats were rescued from a Kuenzli Street apartment after an eviction, straining Washoe County Regional Animal Services just as the Hawk Fire evacuations added dozens more animals. Most rescued cats are in decent health and many have already been adopted, but officials are asking people not to bring in cats unless they need urgent care and are seeking donations to replenish supplies.
   

4. Four Downs: Previewing Nevada vs. Western Kentucky (kolotv.com) — Nevada Wolf Pack football kicks off at Reno's Mackay Stadium this Saturday, with a revamped offense under new coordinator Brett Bartolone and quarterback Carter Jones leading the passing game. Defensive standout Dylan LaBarbera anchors the Pack as they host Western Kentucky, which brings back few offensive starters but features a strong safety unit.
   

5. Reno man found guilty of attacking elderly landlord (mynews4.com) — A Reno man has been convicted of seriously injuring his 78-year-old landlord after punching him during an eviction dispute, causing facial fractures and knocking off his glasses and hearing aid. A Washoe County jury found 23-year-old Aiden Bartee guilty of felony battery on an older person, and he now faces up to 10 years in state prison at sentencing on September 10.
