UNR honors 9/11 with a campus ceremony (kolotv.com) — Students, staff, and community members gathered on the University of Nevada, Reno campus to honor 9/11 victims with bells, nearly 3,000 flags on the quad, and stories from veterans and survivors. Speakers from UNR and Nevada's Veteran Services emphasized service, unity, and remembering both the lives lost and the sense of community that followed the attacks.
   

2. Damonte Ranch residents push back on dog park construction (mynews4.com) — Damonte Ranch residents in Reno are organizing to halt or relocate a new dog park they say will destroy valued open space behind their homes. The project, already approved by the Reno City Council and funded through residential construction taxes, will add separate dog areas, paths, shade, and an agility course, which supporters argue is long overdue for the busy wetlands trail area.
   

3. Lighthouse Sierra project advances, paving the way for supportive housing in south Reno (thisisreno.com) — A new Lighthouse Sierra supportive housing community planned for south Reno aims to give adults with developmental disabilities, like University of Nevada, Reno Path to Independence graduate Sammy Schaefer, a chance to live more independently with on-site support. Founded by her parents, the LightHouse Living Foundation is moving this project forward to create apartments where residents can build friendships, enjoy daily life, and still receive needed assistance.
   

4. This Nevada Corral Near Reno Takes In Wild Mustangs And Lets Kids Meet Them (takingthekids.com) — Families in Reno can take an easy weekday drive up Pyramid Highway to visit the National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley, where kids can see hundreds of mustangs and burros for free. The article explains how to plan the trip from Reno, what to expect at the corrals, adoption basics, hours, and practical tips on weather, safety, and making the most of a quiet, educational outing.
