🌱 Reno River Roll Returns + Smoke-Free Greater Nevada Field

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Reno.

Hello again, Reno! Important update: You all, as readers, have made the Reno Daily so successful that it is my honor to announce the next stage of the newsletter. Patch is looking for a local writer and entrepreneur to take the helm of the Reno Daily. Although I have loved getting to know this community, we want to pass the torch to someone truly local to write about Reno long term. So if you're interested in earning extra income while making this newsletter a more valuable resource for your neighbors, learn more and apply here.

First, today's weather:

Here are the top three stories today in Reno:

  1. With the return of the Reno River Festival, a unique bike ride experience is also headed to the namesake city. The leisurely Reno River Roll starts under the Reno Arch and weaves through seven miles of the city's streets, featuring local live music and a private escort. Reserve your spot in the May 7 event here. (Reno River Festival)
  2. Yesterday, the Reno Aces announced Greater Nevada Field is now a smoke- and vape-free facility. The change, which begins on opening day, comes as part of a partnership with the Nevada Tobacco Prevention Coalition. All smoke and tobacco products will be prohibited on the property; fans can expect new signage at all entrances, as well as educational messaging throughout Aces games all season long. (KRNV)
  3. Beloved Reno icon Ruby Jean May passed away earlier this week. May, who is said to be the second Black woman to open a barbershop in Reno back in 1978, has been described as a role model for young Black men and women. She was 78 years old when she passed away on Sunday, Mar. 20. (KOLO)
