• Pedestrian hit, killed by car along U.S. 50 in Silver Springs identified (2news.com) — A pedestrian killed along U.S. 50 near Rocky Road in Silver Springs on May 14 has been identified as 59-year-old Juan Hernandez Mendez of Vallejo. Nevada Highway Patrol says the westbound pickup left the roadway, struck roadside objects and the pedestrian, and that impairment is not suspected as investigators continue their work.

• June 2: Earthquake of 2.8 magnitude registered close to Silver Springs, NV (sacbee.com) — A small 2.8 magnitude earthquake shook an area about 11 miles southeast of Silver Springs on Tuesday afternoon, but no damage has been reported. Residents are encouraged to share what they felt with USGS and review simple drop-cover-hold-on safety steps in case a stronger quake hits in the future.
