Pedestrian seriously injured in crash at Vista Blvd. and Frisco Way (mynews4.com) — A man was seriously hurt in a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash early Thursday at Vista Blvd. and Frisco Way in Sparks, and police are still investigating what happened. The driver stayed on scene and is cooperating, while investigators say impairment does not appear to be a factor. Anyone who saw the incident is urged to contact Sparks Police or Secret Witness.

Permit filed for new Smith's Marketplace off Pyramid Way in Sparks (rgj.com) — A major new Smith’s Marketplace is moving forward at Kiley Ranch Marketplace off Pyramid Highway in Sparks, with a building permit now filed with the city. The 122,000-square-foot store, including a pharmacy drive-thru, would anchor Phase 1B of the center near Wingfield Hills Road, raising both shopping convenience and traffic concerns for Spanish Springs-area residents.

Southbound Vista closed at Loop after injury crash; drivers urged to take alternate routes (foxreno.com) — Southbound Vista Boulevard is closed at Loop Road in Sparks after a three-vehicle head-on crash, and emergency crews are still on scene with no reopening time announced. Drivers in Sparks should avoid the intersection, expect delays on nearby streets, and watch for diverted traffic while officials investigate and clear the wreckage.
   

4. How Washoe County Is Tackling Homelessness — And What's Actually Working (newsanyway.com) — Sparks is part of a Washoe County homelessness system that now shelters hundreds at the Nevada Cares Campus and coordinates services through a shared data network. The county’s housing-first approach, centralized campus, and Built for Zero tracking have cut repeat homelessness and reduced emergency calls, offering a clearer picture of what’s working locally and where gaps remain.
