New Hampshire Man Dies While Hiking Mt. Monadnock

Kenneth Swymer Sr​., 70, was hiking along the Marlborough Trail​ when he collapsed and became unresponsive just before 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

JAFFREY, NH — A Keene man died after collapsing during a hike on Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey Tuesday morning, New Hampshire Fish and Game said in a news release.

The man, 70-year-old Kenneth Swymer Sr., was hiking along the Marlborough Trail when he collapsed and became unresponsive just before 11:15 a.m., officials said.

Swymer had been hiking with a close friend who immediately called 911 and performed CPR while waiting for help to arrive, according to officials.

"Unfortunately, life-saving measures were not successful and Swymer succumbed to his medical emergency," New Hampshire Fish and Game said.
