After Booming February Thunderstorms, a Weather Pause

Flood warnings have been issued through Friday morning. On the horizon, NH may get hit with a "final blow of winter's chill."

The National Weather Service warned about thunderstorms and blustery winds following in the wake of that ice storm 24 hours ago and it was no joke: Across the southern part of the state in the early morning hours of Feb. 25, 2016, the skies boomed and downed branches and trees caused small power outages that were quickly fixed by New Hampshire’s power companies.


The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings through Friday morning at 1 a.m. in parts of the state after the heavy downpours.

This weekend, expect normal late-February weather conditions but get ready for another blast of cold temperatures and possibly another snowstorm next week, according to forecasters.

AccuWeather.com forecasters are suggesting that it could the “final blow of winter’s chill” throughout the Northeast early next month. A large storm that is expected to hit the central part of the United States by mid-week could head into the region, according to meteorologists.

The forecast

Tonight: Showers are possibly in the afternoon with temps in the lower 40s to upper 50s.

Friday: Cloudy and then clear with highs in the lower 30s and blustery winds with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny skies with highs in the 30s and a light wind. Temps will drop down into the 20s during the evening.

Sunday: Partly sunny skies with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s during the evening.

Monday: Partly sunny with temps reaching 50 in some parts of the Granite State. Evening temperatures are expected to drop back down into the 20s.
