Amherst Runner Selected to Aiello Inspiration Team at Eversource Hartford Marathon

David Salvas recognized for his dedication to the civic and running communities

The Hartford Marathon Foundation has named Amherst, NH, runner David Salvas to the prestigious 2016 Aiello Inspiration Team at the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon.

Volunteering and running are two of David’s strongest passions, and he sets both his running and fundraising goals high. Salvas is running on the Boston Athletic Association team at the October 8th Eversource Hartford Marathon, which will be his 97th career marathon. He plans on celebrating his 100th career marathon next spring at the Boston Marathon – which was his very first marathon.

David routinely raises funds to fight leukemia and lymphoma in honor of a very good friend that lost her battle with blood cancer and of two co-worker’s daughters who are in remission from leukemia. The 67-year old running veteran routinely tells friends that while one race is over, the fundraising is not.

While adding to his more than 2,600 miles running, Salvas continues to inspire the next generation of runners by raising scholarship funds and enjoying volunteer coaching duties with high school students. He inspires them by being a strong role model and example in his personal life. One example of this is that he ran across the entire state of New Hampshire after he retired to raise money for charity. When not running, he volunteers for several local charities.

As a member of the Aiello Inspiration Team, David will receive custom event apparel and perks at the Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon. All team members will also be profiled in the Eversource Hartford Marathon Insider’s Guide.
