They sold you a $1,500 camera with a manual that reads like a tax form. You tried YouTube. You tried Auto mode. You tried just shooting more and hoping something would click.
None of that worked because the problem was never you. The problem is that cameras are designed by engineers, not photographers. The information you actually need is buried three menus deep, and nobody told you it was there.
Imagine picking up your camera, changing four settings, and looking at the back of the screen thinking "I took that?" That's not years away. That's the same afternoon.
There are four settings. Once you understand what they do, your camera stops fighting you. That's not an exaggeration. It's what 2,000 students over 20 years have told me after learning them.
My name is Walter Schnecker. I run C1M Academy in Amherst, NH. We're a New Hampshire Department of Education licensed school. I trained at Leica and I specialize in making cameras feel simple.
I'm running a free, in-person workshop called Introduction to Digital Photography. Two hours. Bring your camera. No experience needed. You'll walk in frustrated with your camera and walk out knowing the four settings that change everything.
Here's what you won't get: a sales pitch for the first 90 minutes. No pressure. No signing anything. I do also teach a six-week photography course for people who want to go deeper. But committing six weeks to a teacher you've never met is a strange ask. So the free workshop is a test drive. Of me. If you like how I teach, the course is there.
