Medical Examiner: Mother Killed, Son Took His Own Life

Investigation continues on Meadow Lane in Amherst.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office has released the names and manner of deaths of two Amherst residents who were killed in a murder-suicide on Meadow Lane yesterday.

According to Dr. Thomas Andrew, New Hampshire’s chief medical examiner, Elizabeth Trombly, who was 69, was killed by “multiple gunshot wounds” and her death is being ruled a homicide.

Jonathan Trombly, 35, her son, took his own life by means of a single gunshot to the head, according to officials.

“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths is continuing with the assistance of the agencies listed above,” according to a statement, which includes the NH AG’s Office, the New Hampshire State Police, and the Amherst Police Department.
