Yankees-Orioles Rematch: An Amherst Man's Place in History
Jeffrey Maier, the 12-year-old who starred in NYY playoff win over O's in 1996, now lives in Amherst, N.H.

Deep in the heart of Red Sox Nation, Yankees fan Jeffrey Maier will be closely watching the Yankees-Orioles playoff rematch tonight. He will be reeling in the years, including the baseball he reeled in as a 12-year-old fan in 1996, helping the Yankees beat the Orioles in that playoff series, the New York Times Sports Sunday reports.
Maier, now 28 and living in Amherst, N.H., famously reached out for Derek Jeter's hit, and the ball went off his glove and into the stands in right field for a home run.
