Bail Violation Leads To Crack Cocaine Score By Cops: Report

Marcus Johnson faces drug dealing, other charges after allegedly being caught in an apartment after a previous second-degree assault arrest.

MANCHESTER, NH — A New Hampshire man, who was indicted recently on assault and threat charges, now faces more charges – including assault and drug possession – after allegedly violating his bail provisions. Marcus Johnson, 28, of Manchester, was arrested on March 7, 2018, simple assault-domestic violence, possession of a controlled drug-crack cocaine with intent to distribute and falsifying physical evidence. On Wednesday afternoon, police were sent to an apartment on Conant Street for a report of a possible bail violation, according to Lt. Brian O’Keefe of the Manchester Police Department.

“Officers spoke with the female resident who confirmed the male subject inside of her apartment was not allowed to be there because of current bail conditions stemming from previous domestic related charges,” O’Keefe stated. “(An) officer noticed (Johnson) inside of the second floor apartment once the 27 year-old female opened the door. Johnson ran toward the rear of the residence as soon as he observed (the) officer.”

During the process of being taken into custody, the officer alleged in a report that Johnson attempted to conceal an item on the floor of the apartment. That item, according to the report, was a large amount of a white substance thought to be crack cocaine. The officer allegedly later located unused plastic bags and a digital scale. Seized in the apartment was 22 grams of crack cocaine and more than $900 cash that Johnson allegedly had.

Johnson was charged – including a new simple assault charge that reportedly occurred prior to police arriving at the scene – and was held to be arraigned in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North.
