Bedford All-Stars Head to Little League Regionals

By defeating District II champion Lamprey River of Raymond, 14-0, in yesterday's state championship, D-I champ Bedford heads to Bristol, Conn., where it vies for the 11- and 12-year-old New England Regional title.

Should the locals prove successful, they'll earn a trip to Williamsport, PA, and the Little League World Series.

According to the Union Leader, Bedford hit five home runs, and pitcher Timmy Saltzman's tossed a two-hit gem to lead the champs south to battle the top squads from Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.

The tournament begins Friday, Aug. 3, where Bedford, representing New Hampshire, faces the top squad from Vermont in its first contest in round-robin play. Single-elimination play begins on Aug. 9, with the top -four New England teams playing winner-take-all on the Bristol diamond.
