A group of local gymnasts recently traveled to New York and proved that you don't have to be made in Manhattan to have a big showing in the Big Apple.
New England Gymnastics Training Center of Hudson sent a team of levels 5-8 gymnasts to the Manhattan Classic on Feb. 4 and 5.
Aidan McGadden took third in the level 6 all-around with a score of 33.75. She received an 8.4 on Vault (10th place); an 8.7 on Bars (5th); an 8.15 on Beam (11th); and an 8.5 on floor (tied for 5th).
Among those competing in level 5, Tara McGadden and Sheridan McGadden placed fifth and 16th, respectively, in the all-around.

Tara McGadden earned her top-five finish with a score of 34.95. She notched an 8.8 on Vault (tied for 6th); a 9.1 on Bars (tied for 3rd); an 8.35 on Beam (tied for 14th); and an 8.7 on Floor (6th).
Sheridan McGadden garnered a score of 33.2 with an 8.6 on Vault (11th); a 7.75 on Bars (18th); an 8.65 on Beam (8th); and an 8.2 on Floor (18th).

The girl’s teams are coached by NEGTC owner Tim Madore, in addition to Bea Boldu, Catie Jarvis. Ashley Neagle, Melanie Streeter and Jodi Turner.
The team next travels to Connecticut the week of Feb. 26 for their road competition.
