Bedford Republican Primary Results

Primary Recap and on to November General Election

This was an interesting election to say the least for Bedford Republicans, and there are interesting observations as we move into the General Election.

Much of what Iwould say was stated first by James Pindell in his ”Inside Scoop” on WMUR. His biggest loser for the week; Aaron Day. Tuesday confirmed to many in the State what we knew; Aaron has no relevance and the only ones who listen to him are fringe players. Not only did Aaron, his wife, his roommate, and his former roommate get trounced at the polls for Delegate, none of the fringe players that he and Andy Sanborn recruited for State Senate primaries won. All of that trust fund money was flushed down the drain with nothing to show for it. Many more years of doing that and Day might find himself needing a societal safety net (are there safety nets in an anarchsitic society?).

I am not sure if we will see Day emerge on a ballot again; his best day in politics was the day before he signed up to run for school board last winter; in fact, that was his high water mark in politics.

Pindell also noted State Senator Andy Sanborn in his thumbs down in his Political Standing column for the week. His reason; he said look above (noting the column about his friend Day). Sanborn’s race will be a tight one at best; the fact that he and Day are known allies and supporters of one another will be a difficult challenge at best for Andy to overcome. I don’t think he will be successful but that is simply opinion. There is time between now and November for things to change, but as of now i would not bet on it.

Bedford lost a good, solid State Rep in John Graham on Tuesday; mostly because he is pro-choice. Sad but it seems that an issue which is a red herring and one that won’t change (news flash; Roe v Wade won’t be overturned at the state level, never mind the federal level). Thanks for your service John; you championed many things for Bedford including much needed improvements to Route 101.

Getting through the primary were Dave Danielson, Keith Murphy, Terry Wolf, Bart Fromuth, and Linda Gould. There is a recount for the 6th spot and Ken Peterson presently is ahead by a mere 6 votes, followed by Emily O’Neill. The only concern there is that if Emily prevails there will most likely be a challenge to her residency (and thus the standing on the ballot). She has not ”lived” in NH for the prior two years; however, a recent decision would indicate that just because she did not live here and did not work here (she lived and worked in DC), it is a definition of ”inhabitant” that would come into play. I am sure we will learn more about that in the coming days should she prevail in the recount, but, as i stated before, i think she would survive that challenge.

There were also six candidates elected as Delegates to the NHGOP from Bedford and they include: Tom Boucher, Kelleigh Domaingue Murphy, Shannon McGinley, Ken Hawkins, Linda Gould, and Kristen Noble. Since Linda won Rep as well, it is my understanding that she will not be a Delegate and that means Valerie Earnshaw would be.

Based on everything i hear the most closely watched race will be State Senate; Sanborn vs Nyquist. There are many questions swirling and I stated above, I would give the advantage to Nyquist as of now, and that is based on what I see and hear. We will know soon enough.
