Bedford Veterinary Medical Center Opens on Route 101

BEDFORD, NH — Bedford Veterinary Medical Center on Route 101 in Bedford officially opened for patients after the Labor Day weekend, Dr. Sudha Komma said. Dr. Komma, the owner and director at the center, said the construction took about eight months, but opening a veterinary medical center in Bedford had been her vision for many years.

“I live in Bedford,” she said. “This lets me serve the community whenever they need it.”

Dr. Komma said that she hoped being open seven days a week, offering ultrasound, acupuncture and caring for exotic animals will set her veterinary center apart from others.

Dr. Komma and her staff promoted the new center through social marketing events in the area. On Sept. 10, 2016, staff attended the Animal Rescue League 5K in Manchester, according to Victoria Anctil, the practice manager.

“We have been trying to focus on getting our name out there,” Anctil said. “We’re excited to meet new clients and their families.”

Christina Keel, of Manchester, brought her 11-week old puppy, Brody in for a check-up on Saturday. Keel said the breeder she bought Brody from referred her to Bedford Veterinary Medical Center. Dr. Lyana Buckwold, a full time veterinarian at the center, took care of Brody on Saturday.

“They were great, lots of good information and goodies,” Keel said.

She said they used peanut butter to distract Brody while they gave him vaccinations and provided care.

“Peanut butter is their friend, now it will be ours,” Keel said, noting that she will be back.

Anctil said that they are planning a grand opening and open house in October 2016, and the date will be announced on their Facebook page.
