BEDFORD, NH — A GoFundMe fundraising effort has been started to assist the family of a Bedford man who drowned in a New Hampshire lake while trying to save another person.

Vinod Varadharajan, 37, died on Aug. 7 at Echo Lake in Conway. He moved to the United States from India in 2017 to grow into his dream job of being an investment manager at Fidelity after studying engineering, according to friends and family. Varadharajan was described as a loving husband and father and dutiful son.

“His colleagues know him as a dedicated, highly ethical worker,” wrote Santhosh Sharanabasappa, who, along with four others, is promoting the effort. “Some would quip: when in doubt, call Vinod for support. Always respectful, his mannerisms endeared him to all. His role as a quantitative analyst in Fidelity Investments speaks volumes to his intelligence.”
